Archetype Overview

Cindra, Dracai of Retribution is a red-heavy Draconic Ninja aggro deck. It strings zero-cost go again attacks into long combat chains, uses its daggers to land extra hits, and gets those daggers back with its hero ability so it can do it again next turn. The list is 65 red cards and 5 blues. Almost every card costs 0 or 1, almost every card pitches for 1, and nearly all of them attack. The deck took 1st Place at Calling: Mexico City 2026 in the hands of Jessie Naamani.

The Plan

Your turn is one long chain, and each link sets up the next. The Draconic attacks reward you for building up Draconic chain links:

  • The two-link threshold. Once you control two Draconic chain links, these cards gain go again plus a rider:
    • Display Loyalty and Demonstrate Devotion create Fealty tokens.
    • Hot on Their Heels marks the opponent when it hits.
    • Burning Blade Dance lets a dagger deal 1 damage when it hits.
  • Rupture at link four. Lava Burst gains +3 power. Breaking Point destroys the opponent's arsenal when it hits.

The chain is fed by go again cards that cost nothing and turn on later links:

  • Ronin Renegade and Ignite have go again on their own.
  • Brand with Cinderclaw makes your next attack Draconic.
  • Fire Tenet: Strike First gives your next Draconic attack +1 power.
  • Art of the Dragon: Blood gets go again when it attacks as a Draconic card, and makes your next three Draconic cards cheaper.

The daggers turn a long chain into more hits. Kunai of Retribution attacks with go again and is destroyed when the chain closes. Several cards have a dagger deal 1 damage that counts as a hit:

  • Flick Knives
  • Throw Dagger
  • Pain in the Backside
  • Blood Runs Deep, which pings with every dagger you control

Each of those hits does more than 1 damage:

  • It turns on Cut Through's +1 power and go again.
  • It can gain you a resource from Blood Splattered Vest.
  • Against a hero marked by Hot on Their Heels or Hunt the Hunter, it triggers Cindra's Fealty token creation.

Cindra's instant puts up to two Draconic daggers back from your graveyard. It costs 3, minus 1 for each Draconic chain link you control. Late in a strong chain it is cheap or free, and your Kunai and Claw of Vynserakai are ready to be spent again.

Why the Plan Is Strong

Low costs let a 1-pitch deck keep attacking. A deck that pitches mostly for 1 resource only works if its cards cost almost nothing, and this one's do. Three cards close the remaining gap:

  • Flamescale Furnace gains a resource for each red card in your pitch zone once you've played a red card. In this list that is almost always every card you pitched.
  • Draco Fire reduces the cost of your next Draconic attack and adds +2 power.
  • Fyendal's Spring Tunic stores energy across turns and turns it into a resource when you need it.

Each hit makes the next one more likely or more painful. Many attacks are only 3 or 4 power, but most come with go again and a rider that triggers on hit:

  • Snatch draws a card.
  • Rising Resentment cheats a cheap attack out of your hand.
  • Take the Tempo can play the top card of your deck after three hits.
  • Mask of Momentum draws when your third attack action card in a row hits.

The opponent has to choose between blocking everything and giving up their own turn, or taking hits and feeding your engine.

Your daggers come back. Most dagger decks run out of daggers once they spend them. Cindra gets two back on her own, and Dragonscaler Flight Path gives you an extra weapon attack with go again. You can spend daggers aggressively without leaving your next turn empty.

Your attacks also defend. Many reds carry 3 defense, so cards you don't attack with still make solid blocks. The list also plays dedicated defense:

  • Shelter from the Storm and Loyalty Beyond the Grave as defense reactions.
  • Boots of Omnis Ward, which can prevent 1 damage.

Cindra's 40 life and intellect 4 give you room to block one turn and swing hard the next.

Warmonger's Diplomacy gives you some control over the opponent's turn. It is one of only five blues and pitches for 3. It also makes the opponent choose between a turn of only attacks and weapons, or a turn of no attacks at all. That lets you pick a turn where their best response is shut off.

The Costs

The deck does nearly everything with low-value red cards, and that has two downsides:

  • Little to pitch. A hand without enough zero-cost go again attacks can stall. With only five blues, you rarely have a big pitch to rescue an awkward draw.
  • Tight bonus conditions. Many payoffs depend on exact chain position. These include the two-Draconic-link riders, Rupture at link four, Oath of Loyalty needing to be your first action, and Ravenous Rabble losing power based on the card it reveals. Sequencing mistakes cost real damage, and the deck rarely gives you time to recover from them.

Who Should Pick It Up

Play this deck if you enjoy proactive aggro and like doing resource and chain-link math in your head. You should be comfortable counting Draconic links, tracking whether you've played a red card this turn, and deciding mid-chain whether to spend a dagger now or save the recursion. If you prefer to sit back and react, this is the wrong hero. You win by setting the pace and making the opponent answer you.

One check before you commit: on the Living Legend leaderboard, Cindra stood at 966 points against the 1000-point threshold (source: fabtcg.com Living Legend page, accessed 2026-10-19). Points are checked every Monday. A hero who reaches the threshold leaves official play from that Friday, along with their signature weapon. Confirm Cindra's current status before you build or register her.

Core Strategy & Game Plan

How the Deck Wins

Cindra is a tempo aggro deck that wins by building long combat chains out of zero-cost, go-again red attacks. Almost every card in the main deck is red and costs 0 or 1, so a 4-card hand at intellect 4 often turns into four or five chain links for a single pitch. You aren't trying to land one huge hit. You're trying to present more links than the opponent can block profitably, every turn, while your daggers deal damage on top.

Your posture is proactive. You defend only to keep your next turn intact. Your 40 life gives you room to take hits, and the low curve means even a hand you split between blocking and attacking still threatens a real turn.

Engine Piece 1: Draconic Chain Links

Most of the deck's power depends on how many Draconic chain links you control. Burning Blade Dance, Demonstrate Devotion, Display Loyalty and Hot on Their Heels all need 2 or more Draconic links before they get go again and their bonus text. Without that, they're dead ends.

That count also reduces the cost of three key effects: Blood Runs Deep, Dragonscaler Flight Path, and Cindra's own dagger re-equip. Each costs 1 less per Draconic link, so all three are free at link 2 or 3.

Your openers set this up:

  • Draconic go-again starters: Ronin Renegade, Ignite and Brand with Cinderclaw are Draconic and have go again with no condition, so each one counts toward the threshold immediately.
  • Brand with Cinderclaw: it also makes your next attack Draconic. That turns Art of the Dragon: Blood on, giving it go again and making your next 3 Draconic cards cost 1 less. That discount pays for Breaking Point, Hunt the Hunter, Demonstrate Devotion or Blood Runs Deep.
  • Fire Tenet: Strike First: it isn't Draconic itself, but it still gives go again and pumps your next Draconic attack.

Engine Piece 2: Daggers

Your daggers are a second damage source that ignores blocks. Kunai of Retribution attacks with go again but is destroyed when the combat chain closes. That loss is intended: it sends the Kunai to the graveyard, where Cindra can re-equip up to 2 Draconic daggers for 3 resources minus your Draconic links.

Several cards turn a dagger you control into a direct hit:

  • Flick Knives and Throw Dagger (the dagger can't be on the active chain link)
  • Pain in the Backside and Burning Blade Dance on hit
  • Blood Runs Deep when it attacks

Each of those counts as a dagger hit, which pays off in three places:

  • Blood Splattered Vest gains you a resource.
  • Cut Through gets +1 power and go again.
  • Against a marked hero, the hit feeds Cindra's Fealty trigger.

Claw of Vynserakai is also a Draconic dagger, so it fills the same loop.

The core cycle: swing or spend daggers mid-chain, refill them with Cindra at a low Draconic-link cost, then spend them again. Every dagger you re-equip is another point of damage the opponent can't block.

Engine Piece 3: Marks and Fealty

Fealty comes from two places:

  • Marking: Hot on Their Heels (once 2 or more Draconic links are active) and Hunt the Hunter (when you've played another red card this turn) mark the opponent. After that, Cindra creates a Fealty token whenever you hit them, and dagger hits count.
  • Direct creation: Demonstrate Devotion and Display Loyalty create Fealty when they attack a hero with 2 or more Draconic links active.

Place your markers early in the chain so the hits that follow, including dagger pings, generate value.

Card Flow and Resources

Card draw comes from several sources:

  • Mask of Momentum draws when an attack action card is the third or later consecutive link to hit.
  • Snatch and Throw Dagger draw on hit.
  • Ancestral Empowerment cycles itself.
  • Take the Tempo can turn a third hit into an extra attack off the top of your deck.
  • Rising Resentment cheats an attack out of your hand once several Draconic links are active.

Extra resources come from Flamescale Furnace (it rewards pitching reds after you've played a red card), Fyendal's Spring Tunic, Blood Splattered Vest and Draco Fire.

The Ideal Game, Turn by Turn

  1. Early turns. Lead with a go-again Draconic starter, use a Kunai swing as a cheap mid-chain link, and finish on a hit you want blocked or taken. Ping with Flick Knives or Throw Dagger while a dagger sits off the active link. Arsenal a strong follow-up such as Lava Burst or Breaking Point. Block with spare reds only when it doesn't cost you next turn's chain.
  2. Mid-game. Get to 2 Draconic links quickly so the conditional payoffs come online. Mark the opponent, then deal small, hard-to-block hits to bank Fealty. Re-equip your Kunai with Cindra once the link count makes it free or nearly free. If Dragonscaler Flight Path is still available, use it at 3 Draconic links to send a dagger in an additional time.
  3. Closing turns. Hold your Rupture cards for link 4 or later. Lava Burst becomes a 5-power attack there. Breaking Point hits for 5 and strips their arsenal, which removes the defensive card they were saving. Unblockable dagger damage then finishes the game.

Key Tension Points

  • Oath of Loyalty restricts your turn. It must be your first action, and after it you can play only Draconic cards that turn. That locks out Fire Tenet: Strike First, Cut Through, Pain in the Backside, Snatch, Throw Dagger, Take the Tempo and Ravenous Rabble. Play it only when the rest of your hand is Draconic.
  • Blues are almost always pitch. The deck has very few blues, so pitch them for resources. Warmonger's Diplomacy makes the opponent choose: they lose either their attacks or their non-attack actions for a turn. A deck built almost entirely from attacks gives up very little when you choose war yourself.
  • Defensive reactions buy turns, not wins. Shelter from the Storm and Loyalty Beyond the Grave exist to protect your next turn. Use them when blocking with an attack would cost you a link you need.

Card Choices & Breakdown

Hero and Daggers

Cindra, Dracai of Retribution has two jobs: turn hits on a marked hero into Fealty tokens, and re-equip up to two Draconic daggers from your graveyard. The second ability costs 3 resources minus one per Draconic chain link you control, so it becomes free once you have three Draconic links on the chain. That is the reason for Kunai of Retribution. Each copy attacks for one resource with go again and destroys itself when the combat chain closes. Two copies give you two dagger swings a turn, and both land back in the graveyard where Cindra can pick them up. Claw of Vynserakai is the other Draconic dagger. It has no go again, but it gives you Spellvoid 1 when you need it.

Dagger Payoffs

Every card that "destroys the dagger" also refuels Cindra's ability, so these cards are the core of the deck:

  • Flick Knives and Throw Dagger turn an idle dagger into a hit. Throw Dagger also draws a card. Its 2 copies double as the main blue pitch.
  • Pain in the Backside (3) adds a dagger hit when it hits, without destroying the dagger. That means you can trigger it again later in the chain.
  • Burning Blade Dance (3) gets go again and a dagger ping once you control two or more Draconic links.
  • Blood Runs Deep (1) pings with every dagger you control and gets cheaper for each Draconic link. It is a one-of because it needs a developed chain and two daggers in play to be worth its cost.
  • Cut Through (3) becomes 4 power with go again after any dagger hit this chain.
  • Blood Splattered Vest pays you a resource on each dagger hit, up to three times.

Draconic Chain Builders

Almost everything in the deck checks "2 or more Draconic chain links," so cheap Draconic go-again bodies come first. Ronin Renegade is the plain version. Ignite also discounts your next Draconic card. Brand with Cinderclaw makes your next attack Draconic. That matters most for Art of the Dragon: Blood, which is a Ninja card and only gets go again plus three discounts if it is Draconic when it attacks. Fire Tenet: Strike First is not Draconic itself, but it gives your next Draconic attack +1 power. Blaze Headlong gets go again whenever you've played another red card this turn, which in this deck is nearly always.

Oath of Loyalty is a 4-power go-again opener. It sits at 2 because of its restrictions: it must be your first action, and for the rest of the turn you can only play Draconic cards. Non-Draconic cards in hand, such as Pain in the Backside, Cut Through and Snatch, are stuck once you play it.

Marking and Fealty

The deck has only two ways to mark the opponent, and Cindra's Fealty trigger depends on them. Hot on Their Heels (3) marks on hit with two Draconic links. Hunt the Hunter (1) marks when it attacks, as long as you've played another red card. Once the opponent is marked, every hit from attacks and daggers creates Fealty. Display Loyalty (3) and Demonstrate Devotion (2) also create Fealty on attack with two Draconic links, without needing a mark. Demonstrate Devotion costs 1, which is why it is the copy that got trimmed.

Rupture and Chain Enders

The cost-1 cards are deliberately held to two copies or fewer. With a deck of 1-pitch reds, every resource is tight. These are the cards you want late in a chain:

  • Lava Burst (3) costs 0 and becomes a 5-power hit on chain link 4 or higher.
  • Breaking Point (2) also wipes the opponent's arsenal on hit at that depth.
  • Take the Tempo (2) rewards three or more hits this chain with a free attack off the top of your deck.
  • Snatch (3) has no go again. It is a 4-power closer that replaces itself on hit.
  • Ravenous Rabble (3) almost always reveals a red card, because the deck has only 5 blues. That makes it a 4-power go-again attack most of the time.
  • Rising Resentment (3) lets you bring in an extra attack from hand at a discount once the chain is long.

Mask of Momentum draws a card when an attack action is the third or higher chain link in a row to hit. Long chains of small attacks are exactly what this deck produces.

Resources and Card Flow

The two-ofs here follow a pattern. Draco Fire gives +2 power and a discount, and its graveyard clause banishes two copies named Draco Fire for a resource. Loyalty Beyond the Grave works the same way, banishing two copies for a card. Running exactly two of each makes the banish clause a planned bonus rather than a dead line.

Flamescale Furnace gains a resource for each red card in your pitch zone, and the deck is almost all red. Fyendal's Spring Tunic covers the turns the Furnace can't. Ancestral Empowerment gives +1 power to a Ninja attack and draws a card, so it can join an attack or block for 3 without costing you card flow.

Defense and the Blues

Shelter from the Storm (3) blocks for 4, or you can discard it to soften a damage-heavy turn. Loyalty Beyond the Grave adds Draconic defense. Boots of Omnis Ward gives you a one-point prevent, and Dragonscaler Flight Path offers a choice. You can give a Draconic attack go again, or let a Kunai of Retribution swing a second time, and its cost drops with each Draconic link. Warmonger's Diplomacy (3) is a blue pitch card that also forces a war-or-peace choice. You choose too, so play it when your next turn is going to be attacks anyway. With only 5 blues in the list, any card that pitches for 3 has to do something else as well.

Equipment Toolbox

The list registers three chests (Blood Splattered Vest, Flamescale Furnace, Fyendal's Spring Tunic) and two legs (Boots of Omnis Ward, Dragonscaler Flight Path). Each game you choose one of each from the pool, which lets you trade dagger payoff, burst resources or steady energy against the opponent in front of you.

The Decklist

Deck compositionCards in the list · 70 cardsRed (pitch 1) 65Blue (pitch 3) 5
What's in the list, by pitch. Plus hero, weapons and equipment (11).

This is the exact list that took 1st Place at Calling: Mexico City 2026 in the hands of Jessie Naamani. It runs 80 cards: 10 weapons and equipment plus 70 deck cards. That fills the 80-card card-pool limit, and the deck clears the 60-card deck minimum (source: fabtcg.com Classic Constructed format page, accessed 2026-10-19). Estimated cost is about $931 at TCGplayer market prices.

The numbers explain the deck. Of the 70 deck cards, 65 are red and 5 are blue. Almost every attack costs 0. Every red card pitches for 1, so with an intellect of 4 you are playing a stream of cheap attacks with go again, not funding expensive ones.

Hand Planning & Pitching

With no mulligan, every opening hand gets the same question: which reds do you burn, and in what order? The list runs sixty-five red cards and only five blues (Throw Dagger and Warmonger's Diplomacy). You will almost never be short on things to do. You will often be one resource short of doing all of them. Plan the whole turn before you pitch anything.

Sort the hand by role first

Before you pitch, put each card in one of four piles:

  • Openers. These have go again with no condition: Ronin Renegade, Ignite, Brand with Cinderclaw, Fire Tenet: Strike First, Rising Resentment, Pain in the Backside, Ravenous Rabble, Oath of Loyalty. They build Draconic chain links without asking for anything.
  • Payoffs. Display Loyalty, Demonstrate Devotion, Burning Blade Dance and Hot on Their Heels only gain go again once you control 2 or more Draconic chain links. They go third or later, never first.
  • Finishers. Lava Burst and Breaking Point want chain link 4 or higher. Snatch, Hunt the Hunter and Take the Tempo lack go again, so they end the chain.
  • Fuel and defense. These are the blues, Shelter from the Storm, Loyalty Beyond the Grave, Draco Fire and Ancestral Empowerment.

A hand with one opener, one payoff and one finisher is a full turn. The fourth card is your pitch. A hand with two payoffs and no opener needs a dagger activation or a Brand with Cinderclaw to get the link count up. If it can't get there, the weaker payoff becomes the pitch.

What to pitch, and when

Most of your attacks cost 0. Your resources go to the weapons: Kunai of Retribution and Claw of Vynserakai each need a resource to attack. They also pay for the 1-cost attacks and for the two scaling abilities. Cindra, Dracai of Retribution's re-equip and Dragonscaler Flight Path both cost 3, minus 1 per Draconic chain link you control. Wait until the chain is long before you activate either one, because each link you add saves a resource.

Pitch in this priority:

  1. A card your sequence can't use. Examples are a payoff you can't reach 2 Draconic links for, or a second finisher when the chain only supports one.
  2. Non-Draconic cards when you lead Oath of Loyalty. After Oath, you may only play Draconic cards that turn. Pitching isn't playing, so Snatch, Cut Through or Take the Tempo still turn into resources. Only lead Oath when the rest of the hand is Draconic or headed for the pitch zone.
  3. Defense you won't need. Keep these if the opponent's next turn looks threatening. Otherwise they are pitch material.

On Flamescale Furnace, pitching reds does extra work. Its activation gains a resource for each red card in your pitch zone, and only after you've played a red card that turn. So pitch your reds first, play a 0-cost red attack, then activate. Activating Furnace with only one red in the pitch zone just breaks even. Two or more reds pitched in the same turn is where it pays.

Count the free resources before you commit cards from hand:

  • Fyendal's Spring Tunic gives a resource once it has 3 energy counters. Plan your big turn for when it's full.
  • Blood Splattered Vest gains a resource each time a dagger hits, until its third stain counter destroys it.
  • Two Draco Fire in the graveyard can be banished at the start of your turn for a resource.
  • Art of the Dragon: Blood, played as Draconic after Brand with Cinderclaw, makes your next 3 Draconic cards cheaper.
  • Ignite discounts the next Draconic card or activation, and that includes the re-equip.

Every resource you get from these is one less red you have to burn from hand.

The blues

The blues are your only 3-resource pitches. Draw one and it usually funds a dagger activation, a re-equip and a 1-cost finisher on its own.

  • Throw Dagger is better played than pitched when a dagger is off the active chain link. It deals 1, counts as a hit and draws a card, and that hit also triggers Vest and Cut Through. Pitch it when you need the resources more than the hit.
  • Warmonger's Diplomacy has no go again, so playing it ends your action sequence. Cast it only as the last action of a turn where you don't need the resources. When you do, choose war: your deck is weapon and attack actions. Most of the time it is a 3-resource pitch.

Keeping cards: blocks and arsenal

Your best blockers cost you the least offense:

  • Shelter from the Storm. It blocks for 4. Against several small hits, discard it instead to prevent 1 damage from each of the next 3.
  • Loyalty Beyond the Grave. It blocks for 3, and once both copies are in the graveyard you can banish them for a card.
  • Defense-3 attacks. Lava Burst and Hunt the Hunter block for 3. If a finisher must go, it's one of these. Never block with your only opener.

Boots of Omnis Ward can prevent 1 damage, so count it before you throw a whole card at a small attack.

For the arsenal, three cards fit best:

  • Oath of Loyalty has to be your first action, and the arsenal guarantees you have it next turn.
  • Take the Tempo or Breaking Point keep next turn's chain topped off with a finisher.
  • Shelter from the Storm covers you against a hand you can't block well. It's a defense reaction, so you can still play it from the arsenal.

Don't arsenal a payoff that needs 2 Draconic links unless the cards you'll draw can reliably supply the links.

Going first vs. defending first

Going first, there is no incoming attack to block, so treat the hand as pure offense. Sort it into openers, payoffs and finisher, pitch the leftover, and put the best non-essential card in the arsenal rather than spending it.

Defending first, plan backwards from your next turn. Pick the 2–3 cards that make your best chain, and block only with cards outside that set. If you take a few points to keep Ronin Renegade plus a payoff plus Lava Burst together, you usually come out ahead. With 40 life and two daggers to rebuild through Cindra, Dracai of Retribution, you can afford to take hits to protect a complete turn.

Sequencing & Key Lines

Open the Chain on a Draconic Link

Your link count drives everything: Cindra, Dracai of Retribution's re-equip, Dragonscaler Flight Path and Blood Runs Deep all get cheaper for each Draconic chain link you control. Burning Blade Dance, Display Loyalty, Demonstrate Devotion and Hot on Their Heels only get go again at two or more Draconic links. Spend links one and two on cards that have go again on their own:

  • Ignite is the best opener when a Kunai is in hand range. Its discount works on "play or activate," so the Kunai of Retribution activation that follows is free.
  • Brand with Cinderclaw goes right before a non-Draconic card. That card then counts as a Draconic link, and it lets Art of the Dragon: Blood get go again and discount your next three Draconic cards. Brand into Art is your strongest two-card start.
  • Fire Tenet: Strike First is Ninja, not Draconic. As link one it adds nothing to your count. Play it after a Draconic link, or after Brand, so it does not stall the count.
  • Oath of Loyalty only works as your first action, and it locks you to Draconic cards for the turn. Lead with it only if your hand has none of these: Cut Through, Pain in the Backside, Snatch, Ravenous Rabble, Take the Tempo, Art of the Dragon: Blood, Fire Tenet: Strike First, Ancestral Empowerment or Throw Dagger.

Never play Blaze Headlong as your first card. It needs another red card played that turn before it gets go again.

The Middle: Turn On the Conditionals

At two Draconic links, your conditional cards become go-again attacks. The order among them matters:

  • Hot on Their Heels goes first. It marks on hit, and every later hit on a marked hero makes a Fealty token through Cindra. Marking on link three pays off on links four, five and six. Marking on your last link pays off on nothing.
  • Rising Resentment goes at link two or later. It can only banish an attack with cost less than your Draconic link count. At two links it reaches Breaking Point, Take the Tempo, Hunt the Hunter and Demonstrate Devotion, and each costs one less. At three links it also reaches Blood Runs Deep.
  • Flamescale Furnace waits. It counts every red card in your pitch zone, and the zone fills as the turn goes. Activate it at the point you actually need the resources, not the first moment it is legal.

The Dagger Package

Kunai of Retribution is destroyed when the combat chain closes. You lose it either way, so turn it into damage before the chain closes:

  1. Attack with Kunai early. It is a Draconic link with go again.
  2. Once it is off the active link, fling it with Flick Knives or Throw Dagger. That dagger hit triggers Blood Splattered Vest for a resource and turns on Cut Through for the rest of the chain.
  3. If Kunai from an earlier turn are already in the graveyard, activate Cindra's re-equip at three Draconic links, where it costs nothing.
  4. Play Blood Runs Deep after you have re-equipped. It costs nothing at two links, and it pings with every dagger you control. With Claw of Vynserakai and both Kunai on board, that is three separate dagger hits, which means three Vest triggers.

Pain in the Backside pings on hit but does not destroy the dagger. Use it when you want to keep that dagger for a later fling.

Draco Fire also discounts "play or activate." Put it on a Kunai or Claw activation to make it free and add +2 power. Or save it for a Rupture finisher if your resources are fine without the discount.

Closing the Chain

Your no-go-again cards end the turn, so plan them as the last link:

  • Lava Burst at link four or later attacks for 5 at cost 0.
  • Breaking Point at link four or later also destroys their arsenal on hit. Choose it over Lava Burst when the opponent has a card set in arsenal.
  • Take the Tempo only gets its banish-and-play bonus after three hits on the chain.
  • Snatch draws on hit, which makes it the right closer when your hand is running thin.

Dragonscaler Flight Path is free at three Draconic links. It is a one-time piece, so spend it where it gains the most: give a finisher go again when you still hold attacks, or give Claw a second swing.

Mask of Momentum draws when the third attack in a row hits. Cheap early links are the ones opponents let through, so Mask rewards leading with them.

Warmonger's Diplomacy

Warmonger's Diplomacy has no go again, so it is always your last action. The opponent sits to your left and chooses first, and you choose after seeing their pick.

Choosing war costs you almost nothing on your next turn. Weapon and attack actions are your whole offense, and your reactions and instants are not action plays. Cast it on turns when you have an action point left but nothing worth attacking with.

Playing Around Defense Reactions and Prevention

Defense reactions and damage prevention are common in the field. Shelter from the Storm appears in 16 of 32 published lists and Sink Below in 15 (source: fabtcg.com decklist API, 2026-09-20 to 2026-10-19). Boots of Omnis Ward appears in 7 (source: fabtcg.com decklist API, 2026-09-20 to 2026-10-19).

Watch for Shelter's discard mode. It prevents 1 damage from each of the next three damage events. Your dagger pings deal exactly 1, so a prevented ping deals no damage. When no damage is dealt, the dagger has not hit, so you get no Vest resource and no Cut Through bonus.

  • When the opponent activates Shelter, use up the three preventions with chain-link attacks first.
  • Hold your flings until the preventions are gone, or save the dagger for next turn.
  • Kunai is the exception. It dies when the chain closes anyway, so fling it regardless.

Keep your best links for when blocks are gone. Against big defense reactions, put your high-power cards late in the chain. Spend the early links on 3-power go-again attacks that force blocks or small damage. Then your Rupture finisher arrives when their hand is empty, rather than into a fresh defense reaction.

Matchup verdicts at a glance. Details below.

Your list wins by presenting long chains of cheap, red go-again attacks and adding damage that never meets a block: Flick Knives, Throw Dagger, Blood Runs Deep, Pain in the Backside and Burning Blade Dance all have a dagger deal damage directly. Each matchup below comes down to whether the opponent can make those chains short, or punish you for running them.

Several heroes from the brief's window are omitted. Arakni, Marionette; Fai, Rising Rebellion; Oscilio, Constella Intelligence; Kassai and Dash I/O were all listed as Living Legends by 2026-10-19 (source: fabtcg.com Card Legality Policy, accessed 2026-10-19), and Living Legend heroes leave official play.

Jarl Vetreiði

Jarl had the most entries at Atlanta, with 71 of 600, and took three Top 8 slots there (source: 100th Calling: Atlanta Round 1 pairings and decklists, 2026-10-03/04). This is your hardest common matchup because blocking your three-power links is exactly how a defensive deck stops you short of the rupture turns.

Lean on damage that skips the block step. Save Throw Dagger and Flick Knives for links they chose to block. Re-equip Kunai of Retribution with Cindra so the daggers keep coming back.

Sequence so Lava Burst or Breaking Point lands on link 4 or higher. A Breaking Point hit there destroys their arsenal, which strips a stored answer before your next turn.

Levia, Shadowborn Abomination

Levia had 52 of 600 entries at Atlanta and 29 of 342 at Kyoto (source: Atlanta and Kyoto Round 1 pairings, 2026-10-03/04 and 2026-10-17/18). The side that is forced to defend with hand cards first loses tempo, so attack every turn.

When a turn can't produce a real chain, arsenal Shelter from the Storm or Loyalty Beyond the Grave instead of a weak attack. Use Mask of Momentum draws to refill a four-card hand rather than over-blocking with it.

Fang

Fang had the most Round 1 entries at Kyoto, 32, but no Top 8 slot (source: Calling: Kyoto Round 1 pairings and final standings, 2026-10-17/18). Treat this as a race. Fyendal's Spring Tunic and Flamescale Furnace let you take bigger turns than your hand size suggests.

Spend Warmonger's Diplomacy on the turn you need them unable to answer your next chain cleanly, not as an early pitch card.

Cindra mirror

Cindra had 46 entries at Atlanta and 26 at Kyoto (source: Atlanta and Kyoto Round 1 pairings, 2026-10-03/04 and 2026-10-17/18). Both sides ping with daggers, so prevention wins this matchup.

  • Discarding Shelter from the Storm prevents 1 damage from each of the next three hits that turn, which blanks a full dagger sequence. Hold it for their biggest chain.
  • Tapping Boots of Omnis Ward stops one more ping.
  • Every mark they land feeds their Fealty, so block the hits that carry a mark, such as Hot on Their Heels at two Draconic links or Hunt the Hunter.
  • Count the Draconic daggers in their graveyard before you commit to blocks.

Ser Boltyn, Breaker of Dawn

Ser Boltyn won Kyoto. Your Breaking Point rupture hit and arsenal pressure are the main levers. Warmonger's Diplomacy narrows what they can do on their following turn.

For that side of the matchup, see our Ser Boltyn, Breaker of Dawn Classic Constructed guide.

Ira, Scarlet Revenger

Ira finished 2nd at Kyoto. Sequencing quality decides it. Put Ignite and Art of the Dragon: Blood early in the chain to discount the expensive links. Hold Ancestral Empowerment to push a key link through a block.

For that side of the matchup, see our Ira, Scarlet Revenger Classic Constructed guide.

Strategy-level rows

  • Aggro: Your defense reactions match up well against an opposing race. The 4-defense Shelter from the Storm and the 3-defense Loyalty Beyond the Grave both pitch for 1, so they never cost you a turn.
  • Control / fatigue: With almost every card pitching for 1, long games strain your resources. Push damage early and avoid blocking with attacks you'll need later.
  • Arcane: Shift your blocking accordingly. Claw of Vynserakai's spellvoid 1 and Boots of Omnis Ward gaining +1 defense once you've taken arcane damage both blunt this plan.

Card Pool & Matchup Configuration

What You Can Change, and When

Classic Constructed uses an 80-card card-pool that includes weapons, equipment and deck cards. The deck must start each game with at least 60 cards (source: fabtcg.com Classic Constructed page, accessed 2026-10-19). Before each game you choose your arena-cards (weapons and equipment) and then your deck-cards from that registered pool. At Callings the pool is registered online before the event and cannot be changed during the tournament. Matches are best of 1, so every round is a fresh configuration decision.

This list totals exactly 80 cards: 10 weapons and equipment, and 70 deck cards. That gives you up to 10 deck cards you can leave in the pool each round, plus real choices in three equipment slots. Under the reveal procedure trialed for the IAR season (heroes first, then arena cards, then decks; announced 2026-09-17), you know the opposing hero before you pick equipment, and you know their equipment before you lock your deck. Where your event uses it, make both decisions with that information.

Deck Configuration: The Ten-Card Margin

The attack core is not negotiable: the 0-cost Draconic go-again chain, the dagger payoffs (Pain in the Backside, Burning Blade Dance, Blood Runs Deep, Cut Through) and Throw Dagger. The cards that move are the defensive and situational ones:

  • Shelter from the Storm (3): your best defense against fast decks. It is dead weight against opponents who won't pressure your life total.
  • Loyalty Beyond the Grave (2): a 3-defense Draconic defense reaction that later turns into a card. Its graveyard draw needs both copies, so play 2 or 0, never 1.
  • Draco Fire (2): same rule. Its resource payoff needs both copies banished together.
  • Warmonger's Diplomacy (3): you lose almost nothing by choosing war, because your deck is nearly all attacks. The question is whether the opponent's choice hurts them. Against decks that mix non-attack actions into their turns, it costs them real options. Against pure aggressors who choose war happily, it is just a blue.
  • Oath of Loyalty (2), Take the Tempo (2), Snatch (3): role-players you can trim when you need defensive slots.

Watch your blue count. You register only five blues. Cutting Warmonger's Diplomacy leaves just two Throw Dagger as 3-pitch cards, which strains turns that pay for Breaking Point, dagger activations and Cindra's re-equip together. Fewer blues also means Ravenous Rabble reveals a red more often and attacks for 4 instead of 2. If you cut blues, lean harder on Flamescale Furnace to cover resources.

Configurations by Opposing Strategy

Aggro and high-pressure decks.

  • Play all three Shelter from the Storm and both Loyalty Beyond the Grave.
  • Choose Boots of Omnis Ward and Flamescale Furnace for repeatable Temper blocks.
  • Trim Warmonger's Diplomacy and Take the Tempo. Take the Tempo's payoff needs three hits on one chain, which you won't build while blocking every turn.

Defensive and control decks.

  • Cut the five defense reactions first. Every slot should either attack or pitch.
  • Run Dragonscaler Flight Path for an extra Kunai swing and Blood Splattered Vest for resources off dagger hits.
  • Keep both Breaking Point. Its Rupture effect destroys the cards in their arsenal, which matters against decks that sit on a defensive card there.
  • Keep Warmonger's Diplomacy whenever their turns rely on non-attack actions.

Arcane damage.

Opponents with damage prevention. Every dagger ping in this deck reads "if damage is dealt this way, the dagger has hit." Prevent that 1 damage and you lose the hit trigger, the Fealty token and the Throw Dagger draw. Shelter from the Storm appeared in 16 of 32 published lists (source: fabtcg.com decklist API, 2026-09-20 to 2026-10-19). Against heroes known to carry prevention, lean on raw attack power over ping-dependent payoffs:

  • Keep Lava Burst, Ravenous Rabble and Breaking Point.
  • Expect fewer free hits from Flick Knives and plan your Mark lines around attacks that connect.

Tech Choices & Variations

The list registers exactly 80 cards counting weapons and equipment, which is the Classic Constructed card-pool cap per the official format page. Every tech choice is a swap, not an addition. At Callings your deck is registered online and locked for the event, so make these decisions before you submit.

Where the flex actually lives

The 3-ofs are the engine: the go-again Draconic attacks, the dagger payoffs, and the cost reducers. The slots you can move are the odd counts: 1x Blood Runs Deep, 1x Hunt the Hunter, and the 2-ofs of Breaking Point, Demonstrate Devotion, Draco Fire, Loyalty Beyond the Grave, Oath of Loyalty, Take the Tempo and Throw Dagger. Warmonger's Diplomacy and Shelter from the Storm are full 3-ofs, but they are matchup cards rather than engine cards, so treat them as flexible too.

Red density is a constraint, not a style choice

Before adding pitch-3 cards, count what they break. Ravenous Rabble loses power equal to the pitch value of the top card. With only five blues in the deck, it is usually a 4-power go-again attack. Flamescale Furnace gains resources per red card in your pitch zone. Blaze Headlong and Hunt the Hunter both want another red card played that turn. Every blue you add makes all four of those cards worse. If you need more resources, use Draco Fire, Ignite and Art of the Dragon: Blood, which reduce costs without diluting the red count.

The reverse swap is cutting Warmonger's Diplomacy for more red pressure. Weigh what it costs you to play first. Your only non-attack action in the deck is Warmonger's Diplomacy itself. Your other key effects are instants or reactions: Draco Fire, Throw Dagger, Ancestral Empowerment, Cindra, Dracai of Retribution's re-equip, and Dragonscaler Flight Path. That means you choose war and lose almost nothing on your next turn. Keep all three against opponents whose turns mix attacks with non-attack actions. Trim toward two when your field is mostly pure attack decks, which will also just choose war.

Finishers and Rupture

Your chain-enders are Snatch, Breaking Point, Lava Burst, Hunt the Hunter and Take the Tempo.

  • Breaking Point is the arsenal-punishment slot. Its Rupture destroys every card in the opponent's arsenal when it hits on chain link 4 or higher. Go to three if your room leans on arsenal. Drop to one against fast decks that rarely hold one.
  • Take the Tempo only pays off after three hits on the chain. It fits best when opponents can't block your early links efficiently.
  • Snatch is the only finisher that refills your hand without conditions. It is the last thing to cut.

Mark and Fealty package

Cindra, Dracai of Retribution creates a Fealty token whenever you hit a marked hero. Your markers are three Hot on Their Heels and one Hunt the Hunter. Hunt the Hunter is the more reliable one, since its condition only needs another red card played that turn. If you want more Fealty, a second copy is the cleanest add. Cut a Demonstrate Devotion to make room, because Display Loyalty already covers its Fealty role at zero cost.

Graveyard value: the 2-of trap

Draco Fire and Loyalty Beyond the Grave each pay you extra only when you banish two copies from your graveyard at the start of your turn. At two copies, you need every copy played or blocked before you get the bonus. A third copy makes the banish trigger come online sooner and more often. It is the right move for grindy fields where you expect long games. Fund it from Oath of Loyalty or Take the Tempo.

Oath of Loyalty

Oath of Loyalty must be your first action, and it locks you into Draconic cards for the turn. That shuts off several cards on the same turn:

  • the non-Draconic attacks: Cut Through, Pain in the Backside, Snatch, Ravenous Rabble, Fire Tenet: Strike First and Take the Tempo;
  • Ancestral Empowerment, Throw Dagger and Shelter from the Storm.

It is a strong opener in Draconic-heavy hands and dead weight otherwise. If your draws feel clunky in testing, it is the first 2-of to cut.

Defensive slots

Shelter from the Storm prevents 1 damage three times in a turn. That makes it best against opponents who deal damage in several small instances. Boots of Omnis Ward gains defense after you take arcane damage, so it earns its slot against arcane-dealing heroes. The three chests are a per-game choice and don't cost you deck slots:

Mirror-heavy rooms2nd Hunt the Hunter1 Demonstrate Devotion

Mirror-heavy rooms are a realistic expectation. Cindra was among the most-registered heroes at both recent Callings: 46 of 600 Round 1 entries at Atlanta and 26 of 342 at Kyoto (source: fabtcg.com Round 1 pairings, 2026-10-03 to 2026-10-18). Expect to face your own deck, and value extra Fealty and dagger-damage prevention accordingly.

Budget Options

The full list runs about $931 at TCGplayer market prices. Before you spend that, check the Living Legend leaderboard. Cindra sat at 966 points against a 1000-point threshold (source: fabtcg.com Living Legend page, 2026-10-19). A hero that reaches the threshold leaves official play, along with its signature weapon, from the Friday after the Monday check. If Cindra has crossed it, everything below changes: buy only what transfers to your next deck, and borrow the rest.

Where the money likely sits

No individual prices are listed here. They move too fast, so check them before you buy. These are the cards most likely to carry the cost, judged by demand and role:

  • Cross-deck staples. Fyendal's Spring Tunic appeared in 21 of 32 published Classic Constructed lists, Shelter from the Storm in 16 and Boots of Omnis Ward in 7 (source: fabtcg.com decklist API, 2026-09-20 to 2026-10-19). Cards that many heroes want tend to hold their price.
  • Brand with Cinderclaw. It was unbanned in Classic Constructed on 2026-09-18, and both published Fai lists in the window play three copies (source: fabtcg.com, 2026-09-20 to 2026-10-19). Fresh demand from two heroes is a likely price driver.
  • Flick Knives. It was in all three published Arakni, Marionette lists from Kyoto (source: fabtcg.com decklist API, 2026-09-20 to 2026-10-19).
  • Single-slot equipment and weapons with no stand-in in the list: Mask of Momentum, Claw of Vynserakai and the two Kunai of Retribution.

Swaps from inside the list

The cheapest swaps use cards you already own. The list registers three chests and two legs, and several deck cards sit below the 3-copy limit.

If you're missingUse insteadWhat you give up
Fyendal's Spring TunicFlamescale Furnace or Blood Splattered VestThe Tunic banks a resource over turns no matter what you play. Furnace only works after you've played a red card, though that's almost every turn with this deck. Vest pays only on dagger hits.
Boots of Omnis WardDragonscaler Flight PathA defensive legs option with Temper and 1-damage prevention. Flight Path is an offensive piece, so you lose your choice of posture in the legs slot.
Shelter from the StormA third Loyalty Beyond the GraveOne point of defense per card, plus the option to discard for damage prevention. In return you get a Draconic defense reaction whose graveyard pair can draw a card.
Brand with CinderclawA third Demonstrate DevotionBrand turns your next attack Draconic, so non-Draconic cards like Fire Tenet: Strike First, Pain in the Backside or Snatch still count toward your Draconic chain links. Devotion only adds to that count. Replace Brand last.

Flick Knives and Mask of Momentum have no stand-in here. You can leave a slot empty, but expect it to cost you.

  • No Flick Knives: your dagger hits rely on Throw Dagger, Pain in the Backside, Burning Blade Dance and Blood Runs Deep. That weakens Cut Through and Blood Splattered Vest.
  • No Mask: you lose the card draw from long hit streaks.

Trimming toward 60

The card pool is exactly 80: 10 weapons and equipment plus a 70-card deck. The deck only has to start at 60 or more (source: fabtcg.com Classic Constructed page, accessed 2026-10-19). That gives you up to ten cuts without needing replacements.

Cut generic and situational cards before Draconic engine pieces. In order:

  1. Shelter from the Storm
  2. Take the Tempo
  3. Snatch
  4. Ravenous Rabble

A thinner deck finds its Draconic attacks more often. The trade-off is fewer cards before your deck runs out, so you lose some staying power in long games against slow, defensive decks. Keep both Throw Dagger and all three Warmonger's Diplomacy. They are your only pitch-3 cards, and cutting them strains your resources more than any red card would.

Upgrade path

Buy in order of engine weight, then transferability. If Cindra's future is uncertain, weight transferability more heavily.

  1. Weapons and the Draconic core. Get both Kunai of Retribution, Claw of Vynserakai, and full sets of Brand with Cinderclaw, Ignite, Ronin Renegade, Display Loyalty, Hot on Their Heels and Burning Blade Dance. These build your chain links.
  2. Mask of Momentum and Flick Knives. These pay off the go-again chains and dagger hits the core produces. Both are Ninja-class, so they carry over to other Ninja heroes if Cindra leaves.
  3. Flamescale Furnace and Dragonscaler Flight Path. Both are Draconic and fill the chest and legs slots until the generics arrive.
  4. Generics last, unless Cindra is gone. Fyendal's Spring Tunic, Boots of Omnis Ward, Shelter from the Storm, Snatch, Ravenous Rabble and Warmonger's Diplomacy fit any hero. They are the safest long-term money in the list. If Cindra does reach Living Legend, buy these first and skip her Draconic-only cards.

Common Mistakes

1. Spending your opening links on non-Draconic attacks

Your best go-again payoffs all check for 2 or more Draconic chain links: Burning Blade Dance, Demonstrate Devotion, Display Loyalty and Hot on Their Heels. Several of your attacks are not Draconic: Fire Tenet: Strike First, Cut Through, Pain in the Backside, Snatch, Take the Tempo, Ravenous Rabble and Art of the Dragon: Blood. If you lead with them, your conditional cards arrive with no go again and the turn stops. Build the count first with Ronin Renegade, Ignite, Brand with Cinderclaw or a Kunai of Retribution swing, then cash in. When you hold Art of the Dragon: Blood, play Brand with Cinderclaw right before it. Brand makes your next attack Draconic, which turns on Art's go again and its discount on your next three Draconic cards.

2. Firing Oath of Loyalty into a hand that can't follow it

Oath of Loyalty has to be your first action, and after it you may only play Draconic cards for the rest of the turn. That shuts off Ancestral Empowerment, Throw Dagger, Shelter from the Storm, Art of the Dragon: Blood and every non-Draconic attack listed above. Before you lead with Oath, count the Draconic cards you can actually play after it. If most of your hand is Ninja or Generic, start with something else and keep Oath for a turn where it fits. Weapon and equipment activations are not card plays, so Flick Knives still works under Oath.

3. Burning Rupture finishers early

Lava Burst played as link 1 is a 2-power attack with no go again. Breaking Point early is a plain 5-power attack that also ends your chain. Both only get their bonus when played as chain link 4 or higher, and neither has go again, so they belong at the end of a long turn. Breaking Point at link 4 or higher is also how you destroy the cards in the opponent's arsenal. If your hand can't reach link 4, pitch or block with these instead of slamming them as weak openers.

4. Hitting before the mark lands

Cindra only makes a Fealty token when you hit a marked hero. Every dagger ping or attack that connects before the mark is a hit you didn't get value from. Your markers have conditions:

  • Hunt the Hunter needs another red card already played this turn. Pitching a red card doesn't count, so Hunt the Hunter as your first card marks no one.
  • Hot on Their Heels needs two Draconic links already on the chain before it can mark.

Order your turn so the mark comes first. Then send in the hit-based cards: Pain in the Backside, Burning Blade Dance, Throw Dagger, Flick Knives and Blood Runs Deep. Each of those hits now makes a Fealty token.

5. Throwing the wrong dagger at the wrong time

A Kunai of Retribution that has attacked will destroy itself when the combat chain closes, so throwing it costs you nothing. Fling it with Flick Knives or Throw Dagger before the chain closes. Claw of Vynserakai survives the chain, so throwing it gives up a weapon unless you plan to bring it back with Cindra.

Two more timing points:

  • Flick Knives and Throw Dagger can only target a dagger that is not on the active chain link. Throw the Kunai on the link after it attacks.
  • Blood Runs Deep deals 1 damage per dagger you control. If you've already thrown everything, it's a 2-power attack with go again and nothing else. When Blood Runs Deep is in hand, keep your daggers until it attacks.

6. Paying full price for your discounts

Cindra's dagger re-equip and Dragonscaler Flight Path both cost 1 less for each Draconic chain link you control. Activating either with an empty chain wastes resources that should go to attacks. Hold Cindra's ability, an instant, until your daggers are already in the graveyard and you have Draconic links on the chain.

Match each cost reducer to something that actually costs resources:

  • Cards that cost resources: Blood Runs Deep, Demonstrate Devotion, Breaking Point, Hunt the Hunter.
  • Activations that cost resources: a Kunai of Retribution or Claw of Vynserakai swing.
  • Don't waste a reducer on a 0-cost card. Ignite played into another 0-cost card does nothing extra.
  • Weapons and equipment: Ignite and Draco Fire can reduce activations as well as plays. Art of the Dragon: Blood only discounts cards you play, so it does nothing for weapon swings.

Dragonscaler Flight Path gives a weapon attack go again and an extra attack this turn, so use it on a dagger swing deep in the chain. It's worth far less on an attack action card near the start.

7. Activating Flamescale Furnace too early

Flamescale Furnace needs a red card already played this turn, and it gains 1 resource for each red card in your pitch zone. Activating it before you've pitched leaves resources on the table. It's once per turn, so wait until your reds are pitched before you use it.

8. Choosing the wrong side of Warmonger's Diplomacy

When you play Warmonger's Diplomacy, you also make a choice for yourself. This deck is almost entirely attack actions and weapon swings, so you will nearly always pick war. Picking peace takes away your attacks for a full turn. The opponent to your left chooses before you do, so read their choice before you make yours. Diplomacy has no go again, so playing it uses your action for the turn. Most of the time it does more as a blue pitch.

Tournament Prep & Final Notes

Before You Register

Check the Living Legend leaderboard before you commit to this deck for any event. On 2026-10-19 Cindra, Dracai of Retribution sat at 966 points against a 1000-point threshold (source: fabtcg.com Living Legend page, leaderboard as of 2026-10-19). Points are checked every Monday (US time), and a hero that crosses the threshold leaves official play from that Friday. Confirm your hero is still legal on your event date before you spend prep time on it.

At Callings, you register your deck online before the event and cannot change it during the tournament. Under the current pre-game trial, heroes are revealed at the same time, then arena cards at the same time, then decks are presented. You see the opposing hero before you lock in equipment. This list registers three chest pieces (Blood Splattered Vest, Flamescale Furnace, Fyendal's Spring Tunic) and two legs pieces (Boots of Omnis Ward, Dragonscaler Flight Path). Decide your loadout for each common hero before round one so the choice takes seconds, not minutes.

What to Practice

  • The mirror. Cindra put 46 players into the Atlanta field (7.7%) and 26 into Kyoto (7.6%) (source: fabtcg.com Round 1 pairings, Calling: Atlanta 2026-10-03/04 and Calling: Kyoto 2026-10-17/18). You will face your own hero. Practice deciding when to race and when to spend cards blocking a long Draconic chain.
  • The heroes with sustained results. Jarl Vetreiði, Levia, Shadowborn Abomination and Ser Boltyn each had 3 of the 32 published lists (source: fabtcg.com decklist API, 2026-09-20 to 2026-10-19). Several other high-showing heroes have since become Living Legends, so spend your reps on these three.
  • Goldfish for counting, not for damage. Run solo turns and say the Draconic chain link count aloud on every link. Nearly every payoff in this deck keys off that number, and miscounting is how you strand resources.

Interactions to Know Cold

  • Draconic links are not automatic. Fire Tenet: Strike First, Pain in the Backside, Cut Through, Snatch, Ravenous Rabble, Take the Tempo and Art of the Dragon: Blood are not Draconic on their own.
    • Brand with Cinderclaw makes your next attack this combat chain Draconic.
    • That is the only way Art of the Dragon: Blood gets go again and its cost reduction.
  • Dagger throws need an off-chain dagger. Flick Knives and Throw Dagger target a dagger that isn't on the active chain link. You throw a Kunai of Retribution on a later link, after it has already attacked. Since the Kunai is destroyed when the chain closes anyway, throwing it first is pure value.
  • Dagger damage counts as a dagger hit. Flick Knives, Throw Dagger, Pain in the Backside, Burning Blade Dance and Blood Runs Deep all specify that the dagger has hit. That turns on:
  • Re-buying daggers with your hero. Cindra, Dracai of Retribution's equip ability is an instant, once per turn, and costs 1 less per Draconic chain link you control.
    • Activate it mid-chain, after daggers have been destroyed, when the cost is lowest.
    • At three Draconic links it costs nothing.
    • Only Draconic daggers come back: both copies of Kunai of Retribution and Claw of Vynserakai.
  • Oath of Loyalty locks you in. It must be your first action, and afterward you may only play Draconic cards that turn. That cuts off Throw Dagger, Ancestral Empowerment, Shelter from the Storm and every non-Draconic attack in your hand. Check your hand before you lead with it.
  • Rupture counts every link. Lava Burst and Breaking Point check for chain link 4 or higher. Weapon links count toward that number.
  • Mask of Momentum needs a streak. The third or higher link in a row to hit must be an attack action card for the draw.
  • Dragonscaler Flight Path on a weapon. On a weapon attack, you may attack with that weapon an additional time this turn. That turns a Claw of Vynserakai or Kunai of Retribution link into two.
  • Warmonger's Diplomacy binds you too. Its restriction applies to you as well. Pick the side that matches your own next turn.

Clock Management

Matches are best of one in 55-minute rounds. If time runs out, the turn player finishes their turn, one more turn is played, and then the game is a draw. This deck is aggressive but physically slow, because one turn can stack many links and triggers. Speed yourself up in three ways:

Build a start-of-turn checklist for the triggers that are easiest to forget:

  • the energy counter on Fyendal's Spring Tunic;
  • banishing both copies of Draco Fire for a resource;
  • banishing both copies of Loyalty Beyond the Grave for a card.

Announce triggers as they happen so you don't have to rewind a ten-link chain with a judge. A draw is close to a loss for a deck built to end games, so play at a steady pace from the first turn.

Final Assessment

This is a committed aggro list. It runs 65 red cards and 5 blues, and it trades raw resource count for free attacks, cost reducers and equipment that converts red pitches into extra resources. The strength of the list is that every chain link makes the next one cheaper and stronger. Its weakness is that the whole engine depends on you counting correctly and sequencing Draconic enablers in front of their payoffs. If you can do that math quickly under tournament pressure, this list rewards you every turn. It won Calling: Mexico City 2026. Given how close Cindra sits to Living Legend status, confirm the hero is still legal before every event you plan around.

How does the Cindra, Dracai of Retribution deck win games?

It builds long combat chains out of zero-cost, go-again red attacks and adds dagger damage that ignores blocks. The goal is not one huge hit but presenting more links than the opponent can block profitably, every turn.

What are the key engine pieces in this Cindra Classic Constructed list?

The engine has three parts: Draconic chain links that turn on payoffs like Display Loyalty and Hot on Their Heels, daggers such as Kunai of Retribution that Cindra re-equips from the graveyard, and marks that let Cindra create Fealty tokens on each hit.

Why does the Draconic chain link count matter so much?

Several payoffs only get go again and their bonus at 2 or more Draconic links. The count also makes Cindra's re-equip, Dragonscaler Flight Path and Blood Runs Deep cost 1 less per link, so miscounting strands resources.

What are the hardest matchups for Cindra?

The guide rates Jarl Vetreiði and control or fatigue decks as unfavored. Jarl blocks the three-power links to stop chains short of link 4, and long games strain a deck where almost every card pitches for 1.

What budget swaps does the guide suggest for Cindra?

You can use Flamescale Furnace or Blood Splattered Vest instead of Fyendal's Spring Tunic, Dragonscaler Flight Path instead of Boots of Omnis Ward, and a third Loyalty Beyond the Grave instead of Shelter from the Storm. Flick Knives and Mask of Momentum have no stand-in.

When should I play Oath of Loyalty?

Oath of Loyalty must be your first action, and afterward you can only play Draconic cards that turn. Lead with it only when the rest of your hand is Draconic or headed for the pitch zone.

What should I practice before taking Cindra to a tournament?

Practice the mirror and the heroes with sustained results: Jarl Vetreiði, Levia, Shadowborn Abomination and Ser Boltyn. Goldfish solo turns while saying the Draconic chain link count aloud on every link.

Is Cindra at risk of becoming a Living Legend?

Yes. Cindra sat at 966 points against the 1000-point threshold, and a hero that crosses it leaves official play along with their signature weapon. Confirm Cindra's current status before you build or register her.
